Region ?Today is Friday, June 8, 160th day of 2012.? It is Name Your Poison Day – thought to be so, because on this day in 1963 the American Heart Association was the first agency to launch a campaign against cigarettes.
On this day in 1948, the first model of the “Porsche” was built. The design for the car was actually created by Austrian automotive engineer Ferdinand Porsche nearly half a century earlier at the 1900 Worlds” Fair in Paris.
On this day in 1969, Brian Jones, a founding member of the Rolling Stones, left the group. Although the split was said to be amicable, Jones” booze and drug binges were too much for the other members to tolerate. Just one month later, Jones, who was 27, was found dead in his swimming pool in England.
Today's birthdays include – rapper Kanye West (1977) actor/comedian Jerry Stiller (1927) and comedienne Joan Rivers (1933).
