George A. Berrios, 55Hudson – George A. Berrios, 55, of Hudson, and a former Fitchburg-area resident, died in his home Tuesday, July 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 20 years, Gaianne M. Garcia-Berrios; his mother, Juana Garcia-Berrios of Fitchburg; four sons, George A. Berrios of Miami, FL, Antonio A. Ayuso of Boston, and Alfonzo M. and Samuel R. Berrios, both of Hudson; two daughters, Ivis D. Berrios-Ayuso of Boston and Ester Y. Berrios of Hudson; two brothers, Victor and Angel Berrios, both of Fitchburg; one sister, Marta Berrios of Fitchburg; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Jonathan Berrios of Miami, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfonso Berrios.

Mr. Berrios was a Journeyman Carpenter for Carpenter Union Local 33, and retired in 2007 due to illness. He had worked at the Big Dig in Boston for several years.

He was a member of the New Creation Community Church in Fitchburg and a former member of the Glad Tidings Church in Quincy. He enjoyed fishing, and owned a fishing boat which he used often. He was also a very proficient mechanic and could rebuild any type of engine.

He was born Nov. 25, 1956, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Felix Antonio Berrios.

His funeral will be celebrated Monday, July 9, with a noon service in the New Creation Community Church, 88 Boulder Dr., Fitchburg. The Rev. Thomas Hughes will officiate. Calling hours at the Church are from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Creation Community Church Building Fund, 88 Boulder Dr., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, is directing funeral arrangements.
