Marlborough – Roberta Carol, age 87 years, of Marlborough, MA died Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Robbie’s Place Assisted Living, 400 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA.
Born in Irvington, NJ, July 21, 1936, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Pietras Gorski, she had resided in Flemington, NJ and Delaware.
Roberta was a lifelong educator working for the Department of Education in New Jersey. She was an avid painter and writer of poems, stories and articles. Roberta was also a volunteer for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in North Carolina.
She is predeceased by her two sons, Adam David Poppel in 1996 and Matthew Paul Poppel in 2021.
Surviving are two children, Julia Marie Bell and her husband James, of Flemington Borough, NJ, and Neil Poppel of Palm Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Kimberly Anne Bell and Bryan Matthew Bell; two sisters, Mary Theresa Mercer of Toms River, NJ and Julie Lohner of CT; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, 69 Capner Street, Flemington, NJ. A visitation will be held prior on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 PM in the funeral home.
