Marlborough – During October and November, Marlborough residents who have vehicles with sideboards will be allowed to dispose of leaves and yard waste at the Resident Drop-off Facility, 856 Boston Post Road East. This will allow a greater vehicle capacity, as long as the vehicle has the proper sticker. Should multiple trips be necessary it is important to notify the security guard.
All matter being deposited must come only from an individual's property and not from a commercial location. Violation of the regulations could result in sticker suspension or revocation, according to the Department of Public Works (DPW) policy.
A household hazardous waste collection day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, for the City of Marlborough and the Town of Hudson. The bi-annual collection day is held at the city's former landfill site, 402 Hudson St. Among allowable items are auto batteries, TVs, VCRs, computers, monitors, pesticides, pool chemicals, aerosols, house hold cleaners and polishes. Another collection day will take place in April, according to Thomas R. Temple, assistant commissioner of operations.
Solid waste collection takes place every Friday in Marlborough. Recycling collections take place every other Friday. The city has scheduled yard waste pickup for four weeks during November. The DPW promotes and encourages residents to recycle as it is estimated that every 5 percent increase in the recycling rate reduces solid waste disposal costs by $75,000 per year.
A Trash and Recycling Hotline has been established for residents at 508-624-6910, ext. 7300.
