Hudson – Helen (Liberopoulos) Caragian, 85, of Hudson, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late William and Vasiliki (Georgacopoulos) Liberopoulos and the wife of the late Stavros Caragian, who died in 1980.
For many years, Helen owned and operated Pandora's Box in Hudson, with her close friend Chris Tzellis. She had also been employed as a secretary for several local businesses, including, the former Diamond Match Lumber, Marlborough; Toohey's Pharmacy, Hudson; Hudson National Bank, Hudson; Boule Insurance Company, Marlborough; and Raytheon Corporation in Sudbury.
A longtime active member of Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, she served as a member of the parish board and in the Enosis and Philoptochas Societies. She will also be missed by her favorite “Ladies of the Group,” who have been meeting since 1958 every other Wednesday for sewing and friendship.
She is survived by her sons, Noel Caragian and his wife Terri of New Monmouth, N.J. and Steven Caragian and his wife Mary of Hudson; her sister, Christine Saraglow of Sudbury; her grandchildren, Nicole Dimmerling and Jacqueline, Christen, and Sarah Caragian; and her best friend and longtime companion, Gerry Curley of Hudson.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street in Marlborough.
