Obit Robert AmeroMarlborough – Robert P. Amero, 64, of Florida, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 in Worcester, following an illness of several months.

He began his career in the health care industry as a Respiratory Therapist, working at Marlborough Hospital for 25 years. Following his move to Florida in 1986, he became Assistant Administrator for A Plus Private Care and at the time of his death was the Administrator for A Plus Home Health Care.

Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Elmer W. and Jeannette (Daigneault) Amero and had been the husband of Mary Elaine (Bonneffe) Amero of Hudson. He spent many happy years, beginning in his youth, at Hampton Beach, enjoyed many close friendships in Florida and was known as a role model and support system for anyone who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Amero and his wife Tera of Worcester; his daughter, Tari Grant and her husband Jason of Marlborough; his brother, John I. Amero and his wife Katherine of Douglas; his grandchildren, who knew him as PaPa, Noah Amero and Joshua and Mikayla Grant; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, Feb. 17, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
