Hudson – Beatriz de Chaves Graca Moura, 81, of Hudson, died at her home Tuesday, May 6, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 61 years to Manuel Moura, who died in 2011.
She was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Jose Puim Monteiro and Alexandrina Almada Chaves. She had resided in Hudson the past 40 years and was employed by Data General until retiring in 1991. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Beatriz looked forward to spending her summers at her home in Santa Maria. She loved to crochet and left heirlooms of her work, a special gift to be cherished and enjoyed by her children and grandchildren. Her passion was baking special desserts and homemade breads for all to savor. She was a loving mother and grandmother and proud of her family. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Fatima Sousa, Mario Moura, Paulo Moura, Eduardo Moura, Carlos Moura, Joao Moura, Nelia Chaves, Margarida Bairos and Jose Manuel Moura, all of Hudson. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Marta Moura. She is also survived by her siblings, Maria Puim Braga and Joao Monteiro of Santa Maria, Azores, Gloria Chaves Melo of California, and Agostinho Monteiro of Hudson; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose Puim, Antonio Puim Monteiro, and Manuel Monteiro.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, May 9, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
