Westborough? – A Spring Social was held at the Westborough Senior Center May 8 featuring special guest Kathleen Lawrence, a professional make-up artist and licensed aesthetician.
Lawrence, who lives in Westborough has done the make-up for a variety of notable personalities over the past 20 years including Julia Child, George H.S. Bush, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney Ted Kennedy and Placido Domingo.
As she demonstrated makeup techniques on Janet? Mazzulo, she regaled the guests with tales of celebrities she has worked on throughout her career.
One of those celebrities, exercise guru Richard Simmons, particularly stood out, she said.
“He was his usual sparkly self when he sat down in the make-up chair,” she said. “As we were talking, he told me his mother had always wanted him to be a priest.
“Without missing a beat, he then added, “well, you know, black is so slimming!” He was great – just so much fun. It was never boring!”
Guests at the event, which was sponsored by the Westborough Senior Center Supporters, also enjoyed a luncheon. At each place setting was a small tea light that had a charming crocheted “tea cup” cover that was handcrafted by Marie Young.
