Obit Louise FoleyWebster/Northborough – Louise (Girard) Foley, 85, of Webster, passed away under hospice care Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Her beloved husband of 23 years, Robert Foley. died in 2001.

???? She leaves her loving daughter, Michaela June and husband David of Natick; her loving sister, Ernestine “Teena” Cherry and husband Donald of Leicester; and two nephews, Donald Cherry of Leicester and wife Kathleen and Michael Cherry of Brookline and wife Jennifer.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Ernest and Florine (Vary) Girard. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1946 and from Maine Eye & Ear Infirmary in Portland, class of 1949. She served on active duty in the Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War, and resided on Summer Street in Northborough for 24 years before moving to Webster in 2000.

A Registered Nurse by training, Louise spent her career in the health care. She served as Director of Marlborough/Westborough Day Hospital at Westborough State Hospital and Unit Director at Talbot Habilitation Program at Westborough State. Her career there spanned over 25 years until her retirement in 1993.

In addition to a lifetime of caring for people, she was an avid animal lover and volunteered her time at the Dog Orphans Humane Society.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 5:30-8 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., in St. Aloysius – St. Jude Parish, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial with military honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
