Shrewsbury – For the past six years, God’s Little Children Preschool and Kindergarten in Shrewsbury has raised money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a pediatric treatment and research center focused on children’s catastrophic diseases. The annual event is a trike-a-thon, where children ride their tricycles or scooters or even walk and skip to solicit donations.

Students age 3 to 6 years old come to school prepared for a fun-filled day of riding. The parking lot is transformed into a mini course for riders and nearby a snack station awaits for children who need a quick break. The majority of the children ride for up to an hour while others take advantage of the playground and cheer on their peers.

The trike-a-thon is part of a week-long curriculum that helps teach children about riding safety and provides an opportunity to talk about children who are not as healthy as they could be and giving to others. God’s Little Children Preschool and Kindergarten raised $1,000 at this year’s event.
