bit Helen M. MulstayNorthborough – Helen M. (Beckel) Mulstay passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at Beaumont of Northborough. She was 96 years old. Her husband, Richard C. Mulstay, died in 1999, and her son, Kevin, died in 1955.

She leaves her son, Thomas Mulstay and his wife Jennifer of Newington, N.H.; her daughter, Joan Donovan and her husband Jeff of Waterford, Conn.; and her grandchildren, Chris and Caroline Mulstay and Tim and Bryan Donovan.

Born and raised in the Clason Point area of the Bronx, she was the daughter of Otto and Margaret (McGrath) Beckel. Years ago, she was an avid tap and chorus line dancer as well as a speed skater. In 1941 she married her childhood sweetheart and together they began their family in 1950.

In 1967, Helen and Richard moved to “the country,” Northborough, where they raised their family.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Northborough Garden Club, and Northborough Women’s Club. Most summers of their family life were spent at Oak Beach, Long Island, N.Y., where Helen shared her love for the ocean and all activities, surrounding it with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. There are no calling hours. A private burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen’s name may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
