Obit Maria SilvaHudson – Maria J. Silva, 86, of Hudson, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham. She was the beloved wife of 26 years to Domingos Silva, who died in 1976.

Maria was born and raised in Beca, Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio Pedreiro and Florinda Silva. She immigrated to Hudson 37 years ago, and had been a longtime resident of Hudson.

She was employed by the New England Tape of Hudson until her retirement. She also worked for the Hudson Lock Company prior to New England Tape. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She truly cherished spending time with her family, and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and gardening in her spare time.

She is survived by her five children, Mario Silva and his wife Tina of Hudson, Margarida Bogalhas and her husband Jose of Hudson, Dina Fontes and her husband Antonio of Hudson, Antonio Silva and his wife Donna of Clinton, and Maria Silva-Rei and her husband Miguel of Hudson. She was the mother of the late Piadade Pereira, who died in 1992. She is also survived by her three sisters, Alexandrina Fernandes of Hudson, Teresa Matias of Hudson, and Ezilda Fernandes of Beca, Portugal; 11 loving grandchildren, Sandra Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Hudson, Danny Bogalhas and his wife Megan of Stow, Andrea Silva-Robbins and her husband Samuel of Hudson, Krystal Silva of Berlin, Mathew Silva of Clinton, Chanda Silva of Somerville, Tanya Pereira-Braga of Portugal, Jessica Silva of San Francisco, Calif., Nicole Fontes of Philadelphia, Penn., Katerina Silva-Rei of Hudson, and Serena Silva-Rei of Hudson; her four adoring great-grandchildren, Olivia Sullivan, Henry S. Robbins, William Sullivan, and Elsie S. Robbins, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antonio Fernandes.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Dec. 22 in Saint Michael’s Church of Hudson, followed by burial in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
