Hudson – Gerald A. Lally Sr., 82, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boston in 1932 to the late Patrick and Mary (Moore) Lally of Yarmouth, and attended St Mary’s High School in Waltham. He later attended and graduated from Boston College in 1954. He was a Korean War veteran.
Gerry later went on to become Executive Vice President at St. Johnsbury Trucking Company for many years until his retirement.
He loved spending time on Cape Cod where he and his wife Mary had a home for many years. He also enjoyed spending his free time golfing with his close friends and especially his best friend the late Bob Clark.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary E. (Carpenter), whom he was married to for 60 years. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Marie. Gerry is also survived by his children, Joanne Provencher and her husband Paul of Montana; Gerald A. Lally Jr. and his wife Anne of Hudson; Nancy Parker and her husband Barry of Hudson; Darlene Peterson and her husband Ken of Texas; Diane Dettling and her husband Joe of Clinton; Mary Lally Smith and her husband Ger of California; and Debbie Jacobs and her husband Stephen of Scituate. He also had 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Patricia Murray of Connecticut and Marie Fargo of Brockton, and a brother, Tom Lally of Norwood.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 14, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday Feb. 13, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
