Obit John C. StrategakisMarlborough – John C. Strategakis, 68, a well-known and lifelong resident of Marlborough, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at home.

Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Clayton and Lillian Strategakis, also lifelong residents of the city of Marlborough. He served for two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

John started out in law enforcement for the town of Wayland and moved on to a position as a Marlborough firefighter. He retired from the department in 2000 after 30 years of service. A graduate of Quinsigamond Community College, he earned an associate’s degree in Fire Science.

John was the owner and president of a local business, Marlborough Fire Extinquisher, Inc., which was established in 1973. He served as a reserve deputy for Worcester County, was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a Notary for many years.

John was best known for his generosity to his family and friends and his courageous personality. He enjoyed golfing and taking a ride to Connecticut, often.

He was a devoted family man and loving husband to Paula (Dionis) Strategakis for over 47 years. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Michael Strategakis; his daughter, Nicole Strategakis; and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough.
