Francis Bolieau, 83, of Marlborough


Obit Francis E. BolieauMarlborough – Francis “Ed” Bolieau, 83, of Marlborough, died of multiple medical complications Monday, May 11, 2015 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, surrounded by his family.

Born Nov. 24, 1931 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Frank and Ellen Gertrude (Murphy) Bolieau.

He was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Audrey (Nunes) Bolieau of Marlborough, and father of five children, Matt, Mark and his wife Kim, Dan and Jim Bolieau, all of Marlborough, and Michelle Delaney and her husband Chris of Northborough. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Chris and Ally Delaney and Amber Bolieau, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frances Mac Donald, Constance Poirier, and Eileen Mason.

Mr. Bolieau served in the USAF in Germany from 1951-1955. He had been employed for 34 years as the industrial photographer for GenRad of W. Concord. He also worked part-time as a photographer for the Marlboro City Post newspaper during the 1960s and was a free-lance wedding photographer into the 1970s. During his retirement years he drove a school bus for Assabet Transportation which he enjoyed immensely.

Taking pictures was one of his life’s joy; he and his camera were inseparable. He owned several motorcycles and enjoyed cross country trips with his sons, as well as driving across the country in a motor home with his wife. A vacation to Italy with his sister-in-law and her husband was especially exciting as he always enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. He had a love and knowledge of WWI and WWII aircraft as well as antique cars.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 17, from 2-5 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, I40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 18, at 9 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street.
