Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:
On June 8th, at approximately 5:18 PM, the Westborough Police received a call reporting a road rage incident on Rte. 9W in the area of Westborough Toyota. The reporting party stated that the operator of a Ford Escape had pointed a handgun at him.
Officers David Holt and Greg McRae were in that same area and observed the suspect vehicle traveling west in the area of Speedway Plaza. They stopped the vehicle and took the operator into custody. Inside the vehicle next to where the suspect was sitting they located a fully loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun.
The suspect was identified as Michael J. Fournier, age 57 of 2 Lady Slipper Ln. #2 Auburn. He was licensed to possess the firearm.
The incident occurred after a vehicle being operated by a 54 year old W. Boylston resident was involved in a road rage incident with Fournier’s vehicle. The W. Boylston resident motioned a hand gesture towards Fournier to which Fournier pointed the handgun at the victim.
Fournier has been charged with assault by a firearm. He was processed at the Westborough Police Department and was bailed for his arraignment at WDC Tuesday morning.
