Hudson – Mary Ellen (Coady) Saaristo of Hudson, 93, entered into eternal rest, peacefully, Saturday, Feb., 20, 2016 at Marlborough Hospital. Mary was born and raised in Maynard and was a longtime resident of Hudson.

She was a passionate and talented woman, who was extremely active in the community, and especially devoted to the needs of the elderly. She served on the Board of Directors for the Hudson Senior Center for 39 years and was a member of the Friends of the Hudson Senior Center. She served on the Board of Directors for Baypath Legal Services and worked for 20 years as a legal assistant for the South Middlesex Legal Services. For many years, she was a successful Real Estate Broker and Appraiser, and served as a past President, Worcester Regional Association of Realtors.

Mary was very interested in politics and was a member of the Democratic Committee. In 2010, she was the proud recipient of the Frances Borger Klempner Community Service Award.

Mary was the cherished wife of the late Edwin Saaristo and the loving mother of five children, Ellen Bartolotti of Hingham and Marion Connor-Morse and Karen Sawyer, both of Hudson. She was predeceased by the late Evelyn Waldsmith of Sudbury and the late Edwin Saaristo of Hudson. She is survived by three sisters, Janet Chase, Abby Coady, and Rita Chase, and three brothers, Charles, William, and James Coady, and was predeceased by her sister, Susan Fontaine, formerly of Colchester, Vt. Mary has 11 loving grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary will be greatly missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 28, from 3-7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Her funeral service will be held from the funeral home Monday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Parish, 21 Manning St. Burial to follow at Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson.
