Westborough – The visiting Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks softball team defeated the Westborough High School Rangers by a score of 6-4 in a game played April 27.
After falling behind 3-0, Algonquin sent 10 batters to the plate and rallied for 5 runs in the fifth inning. Algonquin also tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning. Westborough added a run in the final inning, but ultimately their comeback attempt fell short.
Gaby Kennedy and Amanda Pageau each hit a double and a single, and Mia McAuliffe hit two singles for Algonquin. Maia Morgado hit a triple and a single for Westborough, while Molly Reilly added two singles.
Algonquin had their first win of the season and improves to 1-5, while Westborough falls to 2-5.
