Leopold R. Messier, 82, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Leopold R. “Paul” Messier, 82, of Marlborough, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, after a period of failing health.

Born in Moretown, Vt., he was the son of the late Leonard and Yvonne (Audy) Messier and the husband of the late Maxine (Warren) Messier.

Paul, owner of L.R.Messier Plumbing for many years, was well known throughout the area. He was a kind, soft spoken, gentle man, with a dry sense of humor and was the best dad ever. He loved music and was known for suddenly joining in on his harmonica. He had also served in the MA National Guard.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Tilas of St. John, VI; his brother, Roger Messier and his wife Judy of Marlborough; and his sister, Rhea Zanca and her husband Francis of Maine.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
