Shrewsbury – For the fifth year in a row, Central One Federal Credit Union has donated $20,000 to the Shrewsbury High School (SHS) Athletic Department. A check was presented to school administrators by Central One’s Assistant Vice President of Retail Services David Kaiser, Shrewsbury Branch Manager Owen Russell and Marketing Manager Susanne Drugge Sept. 27 as many of the student athletes looked on.
The administrators expressed their thanks for the donation.
“We continue to be very grateful for Central One’s generosity,” said Dr. Joseph Sawyer, the Shrewsbury Superintendent of Public Schools. “This donation] will help teams purchase equipment and other items that they need.”
The bank had also shown “incredible generosity” by donating $750,000 to the fundraising efforts for a new turf field to be installed at SHS, he added.
Jason Costa, the school’s athletic director, said officials and athletes alike were “very appreciative of the bank’s continued commitment to Shrewsbury High athletics.”
“It’s just wonderful what they have done for us over the years,” he said. “I really think that when you talk about the Shrewsbury Colonials, you really also talk about Central One and their generosity to us.”
