Methodist minister to offer ashes for Lent on Hudson’s Main StreetHudson – On Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 12-1 p.m., Rev. Rosanne Roberts, of the First United Methodist Church, will be standing outside near Avidia Bank’s 42 Main St. location, offering to place the mark of ashes on the foreheads or back of hands of passersby who wish to receive them.

Feb. 14 is the first day of the season of Lent in preparation for the celebration of Easter. Historically, Lent began as a period of fasting and preparation for baptism, and over time became a season for penance for Christians.  During the season of Lent, Christians remember Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness at the beginning of His public ministry and His journey to the cross.

First United Methodist Church is located just off the Hudson rotary at 34 Felton St. For more information call 978-562-2932 or visit www.hudsonfumc.com.
