Marie A. Letendre

Marlborough – Marie A. (Lesieur) Letendre, 87, of Marlborough, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in Marlborough, surrounded by her loving family, just 25 days after the death of her beloved husband of 67 years, Raymond N. “Mickey” Letendre.

Born Sept. 8, 1930 in Marlborough, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary A. (Hartley) Lesieur. She graduated from Marlborough High School with the class of 1948. Marie was actively involved in class reunion activities, and had proudly attended every one, including her 65th class reunion in 2013.

In 1948, she noticed a handsome young man who was working for her dad’s moving company, and asked her brother to introduce them. They began almost seven decades of love and joy together Aug. 20, 1950.

For several years, Marie worked at Design Pak Company of Marlborough, and later at Digital Equipment Corporation, where she held several positions, retiring in 1992 from her favorite role as receptionist.

Computer savvy, she loved to stay in touch with family and friends through social media on her iPad. Marie never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or any special day, and made sure everyone stayed connected. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox with Mickey.

Marie loved to cook and bake for her family, and no event was complete without her delicious home cooked dishes and fabulous desserts. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time wherever her family was gathered, whether at a birthday celebration for a cherished grandchild, holiday dinners, or the epic Labor Day cookouts on Bridge Street.

Selfless, thoughtful, and kind, she will always be remembered for the way she made everyone feel special, appreciated, and loved.

She is survived by six children, Michael Letendre, James “Jimmy” Letendre, and Joanne Schulte, all of Marlborough, Gary Letendre and Jean Fish and her husband Daniel, all of Hopedale, and Richard “Dick” Letendre of Maine; 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Ericka, Julie, Courtney, Mollie, Emily, Lee-Anne, Niki, Alexandra, David, Matt, Eric, Adam, Chris, and Joe; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Horton of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph Lesieur of Colrain and Robert Lesieur of Woonsocket, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William, Richard, John, and James Lesieur, and sister-in-law of the late Jean Lesieur and Esther Lesieur, Jeannette and Francis Busch, Alcide and Georgette Letendre, Ronald and Mary Letendre, and Rudy and Claire Letendre.

Her funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 5 at the Immaculate Conception Church of Marlborough. Interment was private.
