Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Schools Music/Theater Association (SSMA) will present its fourth annual Rockin’ Encore featuring TENSION Saturday, April 7, to raise funds for performing arts in the Shrewsbury Public Schools. The event will be held at S.A.C. Park, 438 Lake St., in Shrewsbury, from 7-11 p.m.

“Make it a date night or grab 20 of your closest friends,” said David Lowy, an SSMA board member and chair of the event. “Head to Rockin’ Encore for an awesome night out with music, fun, friends and food!”

The event will feature door prizes, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Raffle and auction items include artwork by local artists, theater and concert tickets, jewelry, sporting event tickets, car detailing, academic tutoring, wine and gift baskets.

The night’s live music is performed by TENSION, Shrewsbury’s very own classic rock band.  TENSION covers classics from Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Beatles, CCR, Doobie Brothers, Sammy Hagar, Foreigner, The Stones, The Who, ZZ Top and more. Band members include Steve Grip (drummer), Tim Proch (lead guitar), Joe Arcabascio (bass) and John O’Brien (lead vocalist).

“We’re parents of 12 graduates who have gone through the Shrewsbury public school system and have participated in a variety of music, theater and arts programs that have helped define the wonderful adults they have become,” O’Brien said.

Event sponsors to date include Soprano Sponsors Aurora Exterior Painting, Becky Dalke / Keller Williams Realty and Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union.  Alto Sponsors include: Foley Motorsports, State Representative Hannah Kane, Westboro Dental Associates, Flaherty Physical Therapy, and Monti’s Pizza Plus.

Tickets are $25 at the door; raffle tickets also are available online and at the event. For more information, visit mySSMA.com, or contact SSMA at [email protected].
