Shrewsbury – Matthew J. Armenti, an officer/relationship branch Manager from the Shrewsbury branch of UniBank, dropped by the Calvin Coolidge Elementary School on Aug. 22 with a gift basket of school supplies. The timing was perfect for the donation because the new school year was scheduled to begin the next week, on Aug. 28.

The contents of the gift basket, valued at roughly $150, included cleaning wipes, dry erase markers, rulers, several flash drives and crayons.

“This week is our ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week,” Armenti explained. “We do this once a year to give back to the local communities that we serve… it’s always a great thing to do to brighten people’s day.”

Throughout the week of Aug. 20-24, officials from the bank handed out gift cards at Starbucks, served lunches to seniors and the police and fire departments and bought coffee for patrons of Café Noir as part of the bank’s kindness initiative.

“We are very thankful for UniBank and for their support,” the school’s principal Tiffany Ostrander said. “We are really appreciative and we will be sure to put all of these great materials to good use.”
