Ralph A. VigeantMarlborough – On Sept. 3, 2018, Ralph A. “Pepe” Vigeant, went to be with his Lord. Surrounded by those who loved him, at 85, he passed quietly at Sudbury Pines Extended Care Facility in Sudbury, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Marlborough, the son of the late Edmee and Cecile (DesSaulnier) Vigeant, and a longtime resident, he was a graduate of Boston College and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Field Artillery Division in Germany. Upon his return home, he ran the family business, A&P Transportation, alongside his brothers.

Ralph’s life was one of giving. He volunteered at the Boys’ and Girls’ Scouts, Youth Ministry, President and District Governor of Rotary Club, Minister of Communion, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and elected to spend vacations digging wells in Haiti for clean water.

Ralph leaves behind his best friend and wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Bergeron) Vigeant, their children, Michelle, Phillip, Noella, Lisa, and Paulette; two sister, Annette and Jeannine and their families; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and was a surrogate father and mentor to many more. He was also the father of the late Jeanne, and brother of the late Bob, Paul and Arthur Vigeant.

He loved to laugh, to prune his topiary garden, to fish on Moose Pond and to tell a story, usually about a fish. He was truly one of the good ones.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, from 5-7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m., at St. Bernadette Church, 226 Main St., Route 20, Northborough.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at vbact.alz.org.
