Westborough  –  A ceremony was held at the Jan. 8 Westborough Board of Selectmen meeting to introduce two Westborough Police Department officers who have new positions and to welcome three new officers.

Police Chief Jeffrey Lourie first introduced the officers to the selectmen as he also thanked the department members for their support in his first year as chief.

Sergeant Clifford Luce was recently promoted to sergeant, an existing position opened by the retirement of Sergeant Peter Goodney.

Officer Caleb Polseno, along with his K9 partner Lukas, recently completed the rigorous canine training program at the Boston Police Canine Academy.

Trevor MacNeil, Thomas “TJ” Palmerino and Michael Turco are the three new police officers. They were sworn in by Town Clerk Wendy Mickel before having their badges pinned by members of their families.

Two of these new police officer positions were created at the fall 2018 Town Meeting. These are the first two new positions added to the Westborough Police Department since the late 80 to early 1990s, according to Lourie.
