Maurice J. LaffinMarlborough – Maurice J. Laffin, 69, of Marlborough and formerly of Somerville, died March 28, 2019 at his home. He was the partner of Kathleen E. (Unger) Laffin for the past 45 years. They were married in 1999.

He was born in Cambridge, the son of the late John Laffin and Lucretia Greene and was raised in Somerville. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Newbury College where his received an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts.

Maurice was a chef in the Boston area for 15 years. He previously worked in human services at Fernald State School in Waltham and with special needs children at Delta House in Cambridge. He also spent several years as a chef at the Haley House soup kitchen in Boston.

He enjoyed reading, woodworking, fishing, barbecuing, kite flying and exploring his Celtic and Viking roots.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son Andrew Laffin of Malden and his son Mathew Unger of Revere, along with Mathew’s fiancée Andrea Vargas and five grandchildren, Holland Unger-Laffin, Sativa Unger-Laffin, Sophia Ortiz-Vargas and Amanda and Krystal Cannatelli. He was predeceased by his daughter,r Pamila Laffin of Malden, and his first wife, Charlotte (Watts) Laffin.

He will be missed.
