Margaret HanssonGrafton – Margaret Mary “Meg” Hansson passed away May 2, 2019 at age 64. She went to rest peacefully, surrounded by family.

Meg was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She leaves behind her brother and sister, Kevin and Lynne; her two sons, Eric and Chris; and her three adoring granddaughters, Madeleine, Charlotte, and Josephine.

Meg was born to John and Kathleen Reilly on Sept. 9, 1954. She grew up in Shrewsbury, a town she loved. After graduating from Shrewsbury High School, she earned a bachelor’s in education at Framingham State College. Meg married Harold “Buddy” Hansson, with whom she had her sons. Although their marriage ended, their lives remained intertwined until Buddy’s death in January 2019.

She spent most of her career in various roles at Coughlin Electric (now Wesco) before retiring to Grafton.

Throughout her life, Meg was a kind and gentle woman. She loved reading, socializing with friends, and spending time with her family at their house on Cape Cod. Her talent for drawing and art was passed on to her son, Chris. Her cooking inspired her son Eric to use seasonings other than salt and pepper. Meg taught both sons the meaning of kindness and respect.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 6 at St. Mary’s Church of Shrewsbury, with interment at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. the Chiampa Funeral Home ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center assisted with arrangements.

In honor of Meg’s love for children, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
