Hudson – Jean C. (Murphy) Simard, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home June 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 54 years, Rene R. Simard, who predeceased her in 2010.

Jean was born Aug. 6, 1935 in Hudson, one of 11 children of the late Thomas J. and Malvina M. (Wojtkiewcz) Murphy. She was raised in Hudson, where she graduated from high school and resided for most of her life. She also lived in Kennebunk, Maine from 1995 until 2005 with her husband shortly after his retirement.

Jean had a long and productive career as a receptionist before eventually retiring from Stratus Technologies. She was also a lifelong member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson.

Jean was an avid reader, who enjoyed spending time at the Hudson Library, as well as painting with her many friends at the Hudson Senior Center. She also enjoyed her regular luncheons with her many sisters as well as traveling local and abroad throughout the years.

Jean is survived by her four children, Kathleen Hart and her husband John of Hudson, Susan O’Connell and her husband William of Marlborough, Brad Simard of Hudson, and Mary Simard of Boston; five siblings, Leo Murphy, Hellen LeBlanc, Francis Murphy, Carol Laviolette, and Kathy Gregorie; two grandchildren, Adam Hart and his wife Marlene and Patrick Hart; a great-grandson, Zachary Hart; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Thomas Murphy, John Murphy, Walter Murphy, Rita Millett, and Maryellen Seay.

Calling hours will be held from Wednesday, June 12, from 4-7 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 13, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home.
