Lucy A. GerardiShrewsbury/Brewster – Lucy A. (Mangano) Gerardi, 90, of Shrewsbury and Brewster, died peacefully Aug. 18, 2019 in the UMass Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.

She leaves her devoted husband of 70 years, Peter F. Gerardi. Lucy also leaves her sons, Brian P. Gerardi and his wife Jane, Bruce J. Gerardi and his wife Sandra, Peter F. Gerardi Jr. and his wife Jackie, and Paul M Gerardi and his wife Debra. Lucy was the loving grandmother to Brian Jr. Patrick, Michael, Anthony, Luke, Alex, Benjamin, Hannah, Nicolas, and Christopher. Lucy was so proud to have eight great-grandchildren, her sister Evelyn Fede of Charlton, and many nieces and nephews, among them Gerald Gerardi who was like another son to Lucy and Peter, his many years of just being there will always be appreciated by the family. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Marilyn, Sylvia, Jennie, and Helen. Lucy was predeceased by a brother, Salvatore Mangano, and two sisters, Frances Abato and Dorothy Minnish.

Lucy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Gallo) Mangano and had lived in Shrewsbury and Brewster for many years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School.

For many years Lucy worked at the Passionist Retreat Center in Shrewsbury, although all her life she was a loving homemaker for her family.

Lucy was a former member of the Church of St. Mary’s and St. Anne’s and was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Cape while living in Brewster. She was a devout catholic and was very active in her church. For several years she was the president of the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed knitting and loved to cook. Lucy was most happy when she was with her family. The Cape was her and Peter’s favorite place to be together. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Lucy’s funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home before leaving for church. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
