As concerns rise over the Coronavirus (COVID-19), town officials would like to take this opportunity to provide Southborough residents, town employees, businesses and the general public with an update on some of the measures that have been taken to date in regards to COVID-19.

Information about the coronavirus is evolving, and the situation remains dynamic. The Town of Southborough continues to be in contact with state officials, emergency management teams and board of health representatives to discuss plans daily and would like to share the following information:

Are there any cases of COVID-19 in Southborough?
As of March 16, 2020, at 10:00 AM, there are no positive cases of COVID-19 for residents of Southborough.

What Town buildings are open to the public?

Effective Monday, March 16th, the following Town buildings are closed to the public:

Southborough Town House
Cordaville Hall (Senior Center, Building Department, Board of Health)
South Union School (Recreation, Youth & Family Services)
Dept. of Public Works
Library
Public Safety is open to the public for lobby traffic only.

Essential staff will continue to work internally during this time. We would encourage residents to conduct their business electronically by email, phone or internet, to the extent possible. The green drop box at the Town House will be checked several times daily for those residents who want to leave payments and other mail for Town departments.

We encourage all individuals to make an appointment in advance with any department that you need to communicate with in-person for the foreseeable future. However, if you come in person without an appointment, we will endeavor to put you in contact with the right resource immediately. Email inquiries can be sent to the applicable department which will be monitored constantly by staff.
Are public meetings being held?

The Board of Selectmen have restricted all public meetings to those that are essential to government operations. This is limited to Board of Selectmen and Board of Health, with few exceptions. Remote participation is encouraged to maintain social distancing. The Technology Manager is setting up capabilities for boards and committees to hold virtual meetings (phone and/or video) per the relaxed Open Meeting Law requirements, and more information will be sent out as it becomes available.

How do candidates obtain or return election paperwork to the Town Clerk?
The Town Clerk has made changes to services provided by his office, including elections, to accommodate the limited public accessibility to the Town House that is now in place.
