Marlborough – The Addiction Referral Center (ARC) in Marlborough and  United Way of Tri-County recently joined forces to provide school backpacks to area children.

The ARC Executive Director Kelly McCausland said, “We are very grateful to the United Way of Tri-County for providing back to school backpacks to our families.  The children are so excited and the parents are thankful.”

Each backpack is filled with age-appropriate learning supplies.  The ARC distributed over 25 backpacks to children in need.

“Substance use disorder affects all family members and we are delighted to be a part of setting children up for success for the school year,” McCausland said.

The Addiction Referral Center has a 45-year history as a nonprofit in Marlborough, helping people who suffer with substance use disorder and family members and loved ones.  The ARC disrupts the cycle of addiction and offers support through education, referral services, recovery coaching, and peer support groups and meetings.
