Sterling D. Chaves, 28, of Hudson


Sterling D. ChavesHudson – Sterling Dante Chaves, 28, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020, after years of battling the disease of addiction. Sterling was born on September 15, 1992, and is the son of Jose (Ernie) and Paula Chaves.

Sterling is survived by his loving sister, Cassandra B. Chaves; his grandmother, Ermelinda Chaves; his aunt, Elsa Panneton, and cousins DJ & Hunter; his aunt and uncle, Laurie and Michael Lowe, cousin Matthew and his fiancé Meghan, and his late cousin Chris; his aunt and uncle Frannie and Terry Barry, cousin Katie and her husband Ben Hartley, and cousin/godfather Jim and his wife Verna, and their son James; his beloved cousin/godmother Karen and her husband Mario Figueiredo, and their four beautiful children; his cousins Anabelle and George Anastas, and cousin Kerri Anastas and her two girls. He also leaves behind many close friends and extended family.

Sterling, a lifelong Hudson resident, graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 2011. Sterling was an avid skateboarder and loved to play ice hockey and lacrosse from an early age. He was a natural athlete and was outstanding at any sport he picked up. He enjoyed spending the summers in the Cape, rollerblading, biking, fishing, and crabbing.

Sterling also loved animals and was referred to as an “animal whisperer” by his loved ones. Sterling adored his two cats, Simba and Demi, and his late dog MJ.

Sterling was such a charismatic and charming person. He had an amazing sense of humor that would fill the room with laughter. Sterling had a highly infectious laugh and a beautiful smile. He was genuine and caring, with the biggest heart.

Sterling enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and especially loved to spend time with his Avó with whom he shared a special relationship. He was an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. Sterling will truly be missed by all.

A memorial Mass will be scheduled for a later date. A private burial service for family and close friends will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson, MA
