Veterans in procession at Beal School

Shrewsbury – Dignitaries gathered at the Beal School to offer their appreciation to local veterans on Nov. 11. Veterans gathered in their vehicles at Town Hall to form a procession on Maple Avenue to the World War I Monument in front of Beal School.

The caravan began at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month and, oddly enough, the parade lasted just about eleven minutes, with about a dozen or so cars, to process from Town Hall to Beal School.

While there wasn’t a traditional speaking ceremony, local Boys Scouts presented the veterans with cards and flags at the beginning of the procession. Several Girl Scouts and dignitaries including the Board of Selectmen and State Representative Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) were waiting for them at Beal School with posters and gratitude.
