Shrewsbury Police arrest Fall River man on alleged firearm and drug charges

On 1/26/2021 Officer Kevin Caviston conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 2001 Hyundai sedan on Boston Turnpike (Rt. 9). Officer Kyle Amato responded and provided backup for the motor vehicle stop. After a brief investigation, Officer Amato located a loaded 9MM Glock handgun on a male passenger in the vehicle. It was discovered that the suspect did not have a License To Carry (LTC) firearms, and he was placed under arrest. Also located on the same suspect was 10.3 grams of MDMA (commonly referred to as “molly” or “ecstasy”), 1.9 grams of Percocet, and 49.9 grams of Xanax. Sergeant Mike Vitols, Officer Chris Abbascia, and Detective Paul Brown also assisted with the investigation.

The arrested party was identified as Zakai Shelton, 19, of 336 Stafford Road, Fall River MA.

Mr. Shelton is being charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm without a permit
  • Possession of ammunition without a permit
  • Possession of a Class B substance (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Class C substance
