Garden gnome decorates Marlborough trail

MARLBOROUGH – A photographer in Marlborough snapped a whimsical photo last month of a garden gnome standing watch over a set of trails in the Desert Natural area in town.

This isn’t the first time ornaments like this have delighted local hikers, however.

Back in 2017, a different gnome sat beside a walking path through Marlborough’s Ghiloni Park. Where trails weave into woods on that sprawling city property, the “Ghiloni Park Gnome,” as he was called, rested on a manicured perch at the base of a tree.

He then went missing, though.

If you have seen our gnome or his home, please let us know where so we can find him and bring him home,” the Colonial Garden Club, which maintains a plot of space within Ghiloni Park, posted on its official social media. “The kids on the walking path are missing seeing him each day!”
