Gilbert F. Gannon Jr.Hudson – Gilbert F. Gannon Jr., 91, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on April 29, 2021 after a period of declining health. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Alice B. (Santos) Gannon.

Gilbert, the son of the late Gilbert F. and Esther L. (Sargent) Gannon, was born and raised in Somerville, graduating from Somerville High School in the class of 1949. A short time later he married the love of his life on May 19, 1951, sharing nearly 70 years of marriage together.

Gilbert enlisted in the Naval Air Reserves from 1947 until 1957 in South Weymouth and Squanum.

Gilbert and Alice relocated to Hudson in 1961 and Gilbert began a long career of public service as a firefighter for the town of Hudson, retiring in 1990. He was also an officer in the Hudson Municipal Credit Union and a volunteer at the First Federated Church in Hudson.

Gilbert was a home handyman and enjoyed tinkering with and repairing things around his home. He also enjoyed camping and exploring the White Mountains and winters in Davenport, Fla. just outside Disney World.

In addition to his beloved wife, Alice B. (Santos) Gannon, he is also survived by his son, Gary Gannon and partner Angela Brown of Ashburnham; his sister, Priscilla Cook and husband Kenneth of Sweden, Maine; his granddaughter, Staci L. Gannon and partner Donald Hunt of Leominster and (their children) Gilbert’s great-grandchildren, Cohen and Kasen; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, William A. Gannon, and sisters, Barbara L. Stackpole and Doris G. Frost.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service on Thursday, May 6, at 12:45 p.m., at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home of Hudson is honored to be assisting with his arrangements.
