HUDSON — Before Hudson’s new Executive Assistant starts in June, town Human Resource and Licensing Manager Fernanda Santos will step into the role on an interim basis.

She was unanimously appointed by the Select Board during their April 26 meeting.

“I’m happy to step up, and I have some big shoes to fill, but I will do my best,” Santos said. “I want to thank the board for the vote of confidence.”

With the current Executive Assistant, Tom Moses, retiring, Santos will serve beginning Friday, May 7 through about June 7 when Hudson’s new Executive Assistant, Thomas Gregory, is slated to start work.

“Fernanda is one of those employees that everybody respects,” Select Board Vice Chair John Parent said.

Santos will also receive an additional $500 per week “in recognition of the additional duties and responsibilities she will assume,” Parent said.

“Fernanda is more than capable of doing the job,” Select Board Chair Joe Durant said, echoing Parent. “She is the town Executive Assistant office when Tom’s not there.”

He advised Santos that there are “very competent people” in the town departments who would be willing to offer help if she needed it.
