Westborough town iconWESTBOROUGH — A member of the Westborough Department of Public Works Cemetery Division has received his town’s Employee Excellence Award for July 2021.

Marcos Passos, who the town noted in a press release is relatively new to the cemetery division position, has regularly been complimented by residents.

The town said that Passos is willing to extend himself beyond his regular duties to make sure Westborough roads are safe. This involves work maintaining the landscapes’ sightlines. He often specifically works in early morning hours and on Saturdays to minimize the impact on traffic flow when maintaining intersections in town.

Passos has also taken the initiative to use a phone application to map over 100 trash barrels in town to increase his efficiency and help train new employees on removing trash, according to that press release.

Beyond trash, Passos implemented similar mapping methods when he was assigned to plow sidewalks in the winter.

“Marcos’ demonstration of ‘everyday’ excellence on the job marks him as truly deserving of recognition and thanks,” the press release said.
