Charlton – Irene M. (Collette) Vessella, 92 of Charlton, formerly a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, 2021, at Lifecare Center of Auburn with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson by her side.
Irene was born in Fitchburg, a daughter of the late Vitalin and Elizabeth (Landry) Collette. She graduated from Commerce High School and later moved to Shrewsbury where she lived for over 50 years before moving in with her daughter six years ago.
Irene was a member of St. Annes Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league in her younger years and loved going to Foxwoods with her husband.
Irene’s husband of 61 years, Frank A. Vessella Jr. passed away on Oct. 23, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Campbell and her husband Stephen, and a grandson, John Campbell, all of Charlton, with whom she lived; a sister, Dorothy Alquist of Florida; and a nephew and a niece, Brian and Karen Alquist and their families.
Services for Irene will be held privately.
