Hudson native marks 95th birthday
Hudson native Dave O’Neil, who marked his 95th birthday on Oct. 25, was feted at a family dinner party on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Gibbett Hill
in Groton. Attending were his daughter, Ellen O’Neil, Allene Diaz-O’Neil, son, Matthew O’Neil and his wife, Lynette, and granddaughters, Kate and Ellen O’Neil.
Dave is the husband of the late Rita (Silva) O’Neil.
A former Town Treasurer, he is a 1944 Hudson High School graduate, a 1948 graduate of Holy Cross College and a World War II Navy veteran.
He was inducted into the Hudson High School Athletic Hall of Fame with members of the school’s 1943 state championship hockey team.
Hudson couple celebrates wedding
Friends and family attended the wedding of Valerie Underwood and Bryan Norton on Oct. 16. The outdoor wedding took place on the grounds of the Underwood home on Chestnut Street.
The bride is the daughter of Kim and Rhonda Underwood and the bridegroom is the son of Jack and Susan Norton, all of Hudson.
Couple retires for Florida
Longtime Hudson residents Jay and Christine Murphy have retired to Sarasota, Fla. Before leaving, they were honored with a neighborhood party at their Fort Meadow Lake home and with a family party at Rail Trail Flatbread on Main Street.
Jay is a retired Hudson Police Officer and Christine retired in April.
Christine said that they look forward to no snow and ice and warmer weather. Their new home is close to downtown Sarasota beaches and dining.
St. Michael Parish continues food drive
St. Michael Parish is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive now through Sunday, Nov. 11 to provide local families with food for the holidays.
Canned vegetables, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, pumpkin bread mix, etc. may be left in boxes in upper church foyer.
Turkey Day Smoker scheduled
The Turkey Day Smoker, held annually before the Hudson-Marlborough football game each year, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson/Concord Elks on Park Street.
Tickets are $10 for the annual “roast” of the coaching staffs and buffet.
Alumni are invited to come and relive their former “glory days.”
Tickets are $10 at the door.
Anniversary mass scheduled
First Anniversary Mass will be celebrated for Mrs. Nancy Hanslip, Saturday morning, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. at St. Michael Church.
LOOKING BACK TO 1966 (Hudson’s Centennial Year)
Maureen Bourque was crowned Homecoming Queen at Hudson Catholic High School by previous Queen Sue DeArcangelis.
The Hudson Board of Health unanimously awarded a three-year garbage collection contract to Walter Zina for $65,916.
Ten candidates applied for the Veterans Agent position.
A firing party from Fort Devens provided full military honors at the burial of Ralph Pearl, 57, a World War II veteran and an employee of the Boston Herald.
Argeo Cellucci, Jr. sang “Mala Femina” at the Buonavia Club Benefit Dinner.
