Lionel E. RacicotShrewsbury – Lionel Ernest “Ernie” Racicot, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 95. He was predeceased in 2011 by his wife of 62 years, Norma C. (Lazzari) Racicot. They married on June 11, 1949, at the Holy Rosary Parish in Worcester, MA and raised their family in Shrewsbury, MA, where they were faithful parishioners of Saint Mary’s Church for more than 70 years.

Ernie was born in Cambridge, MA, to the late Wilfred and Laura (Grenier) Racicot. After graduating from Limerick High School, Limerick, ME he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during World War II. His brothers Paul, Alfred, Maurice, Armand and Edward, as well as half siblings, Joseph Ferand and Germaine Plante, have predeceased him. His brother, David Racicot, is a resident of Alfred, ME.

Ernie was a Contract Work Inspector for more than 40 years at ‘Ma Bell,’ now Verizon. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner, traveling extensively, but his favorite place of all was home with his family.

Ernie is survived by his children, Rev. Dr. Peter E. Racicot and his wife Mary, of Worcester, with whom he lived, Paul E. Racicot and his wife Patricia, of Uncasville, CT, Laura-Kay Cosenza and her husband Mark, of Shrewsbury, Andrew C. Racicot of Bedford, NH, and Amy R. Oddo and her husband Stephen, of Bristol, RI, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Racicot family between 10:30 and 12:30 PM on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, followed by his funeral Mass at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Masks will kindly be required, per the Town of Shrewsbury. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
