WESTBOROUGH – Drone photography offers an aerial view of the sprawling property at 4400 Computer Drive in Westborough that Amazon purchased last week.
The e-commerce giant spent $65 million on the site.
The deal came five months after the Westborough Planning Board approved a site plan application for a new e-commerce facility on the same property.
Site plan details planned operations
The property spans just under 93 acres and currently includes a 685,000 square foot, two story building with more than 2,000 parking spaces.
Atlantic Management filed plans for a “last mile” fulfillment center in March of last year, detailing a proposal to demolish the current structure at 4400 Computer Drive and build new a 221,256 square foot facility.
The Planning Board placed a number of conditions on its approval of Atlantic’s site plan, including a requirement that all vehicles “for which the project site is their principal operation location” be registered in the town of Westborough.
That will let the town collect excise taxes on those vehicles.
Facility would add to local Amazon presence
An Amazon fulfillment center in this location would be the latest in a line of new Amazon facilities in the area. The company already operates a robotics center on Otis Street in Westborough and a sorting operation on Bartlett Street in Northborough.
The robotics center opened last year.
The Bartlett Street sorting center opened back in 2020.
