George W. Demeritt Jr.Marlborough – George W. Demeritt Jr., 79 of Marlborough, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Bear Mountain at Sudbury.

George was born in Framingham, MA, the son of the late George W. and Eleanor (Johnson) Demeritt. His career in the construction industry spanned over 50 years, working for several companies including AF White Excavating for his dear friend Allan White, Fossile Construction, Gristmill Construction, and CMS Inc. to name a few. George retired from construction in 2009, but not wanting to fully retire he then enjoyed working part time as a school bus driver for Van Pool, Inc.

In the last years of his life George spent his time revisiting his past hobby of building antique model cars and planes, which he enjoyed talking about with his grandson, Brooks Jr.

George was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Judith A. (Marchant) Demeritt, who died in 2010.  He is survived by his 4 children, Steven Demeritt and his wife Karen of Northbridge, Wendi Demeritt of Hudson, Diana Demeritt of Marlborough, and Lynda Demeritt of Marshfield; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Devin, Aayana, Anthony (Tony), Ashley, DJ, Brooks Jr., Marcus, Alyssa and Abigail. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Sister Anne Bernadette, M.S.B.T., who according to George always cheated at cards.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjudes.org.
