SOUTHBOROUGH – A longtime Southborough firefighter will soon leave the department for a new role in West Boylston as the town’s fire chief.

Mark Sadowski has spent the past 21 years with the Southborough Fire Department, currently serving at the rank of captain.

He will head to West Boylston next month, however, to lead the town’s fire department.

Sadowski previously graduated from a state chief fire officer program in 2018.

He was then recently appointed to the West Boylston role by the Town Administrator. The West Boylston Select Board formally concurred with the Town Administrator’s decision on July 6, endorsing Sadowski’s hiring.

“Welcome aboard,” Select Board member Patrick Crowly said.

Sadowski’s last tour of duty in Southborough will be on July 20, according to the Southborough Fire Department.

His employment in West Boylston will start on Aug. 1.
