Wenzel: Marlborough High School grad named to Forbes 30 Under 30MARLBOROUGH – The new year has arrived and the Forbes 30 Under 30 2023 list has been released with one of Marlborough High School graduates included.  

Matheus Fonseca, 21, made this year’s list along with a number of other notable entrepreneurs. He started a company while still in high school to develop new content within Minecraft.

The Marlborough High School Facebook page stated that Matheus was outstanding in the Marlborough Public Schools. Many of his former teachers and classmates remembered him as being a hard-working and kind overachiever involved in school culture and activities.

When congratulated for his achievements, Matheus shared that, “It all started at Marlborough Public Schools. I was set up for success from the start. I’d like to tell students to never stop believing in your dreams, no matter how far and difficult they may seem to be.”

When asked if there were any stand-out MPS staff that helped him along the way: Matheus responded “For teachers that supported me along the way, .. this one is hard since I loved all of my teachers.”

Members of this year’s class of “30 Under 30 2023: These Underdogs Are Redefining The Future of the Gaming Industry” were chosen from hundreds of nominations.

Matheus Fonseca, along with Colin McDonald, 22, and Jordan Iribarren, 25, who also made the 30 Under 30 list, cofounded Moonsworth, a new content within Minecraft.

Sponsored by the Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club, the event will be held at Marlborough’s Apex Entertainment center. Guest Speakers will discuss food relationships, anxiety and your best practices for keeping your health a priority.

A SPAGHETTI SUPPER, put on by the Men’s Fellowship of the First Church in Marlborough, Congregational, will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 5 to 6:30 p.m., in the Parish Hall of the Church, High and Bolton (Rte. 85) streets, above Union Common, in Marlborough. The cost is $7 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. 

THE ADDICTION REFERRAL CENTER is hosting the Twelfth Annual Comedy Night Benefit, featuring comedians on Friday, Feb.10, at the Hudson Portuguese Club, 13 Port St., Hudson. Entertainers at the Comedy Night Benefit include comedians Amy Tee, Ryan Shea and Bill Douglas with Dave Rattigan as host. 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Food is available for purchase. Coffee and desserts are complimentary. For further information on sponsorships, program ads, tickets or table reservations, call the ARC Office at 508-485-4357. Tables ($250) and individual tickets ($25) should be purchased in advance at the ARC. Chairing the event are Tracey Gustafson and Bob Landry. 

THE MARLBOROUGH HISTORCIAL SOCIETY presents a free program, “Stories From the Attic,” on Jan. 24, at 7 p.m., at the Peter Rice Homestead, 377 Elm St. Sit around the fireplace and enjoy free hot chocolate and coffee. Share your stories. All are welcome.
