Gerald R. HudsonMarlborough – Gerald R. Hudson, 94, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus. He is the beloved husband of Frances “Fran” (Scerra) Hudson.

Born in Northborough, he was a son of the late James and Clara Hudson, and was raised and educated in Marlborough Massachusetts.

Mr. Hudson proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Prior to retirement, he was employed as a supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He enjoyed fishing of all kinds and caught quite a few “big ones”, spending time with his family, watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots, especially when they were winning. As a younger man he played baseball with the Pirates, a team that was part of a league in Marlborough.

In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, he is survived by his daughter, Denise (Hudson) Churchill and her husband Douglas H. Churchill, his granddaughters Emily (Churchill) Baxter and her husband Mark Baxter, Alissa (Churchill) DeMartino and her husband Jay DeMartino, and grandson, Douglas M. Churchill and fiancé Julie Ferdella. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Connor Bowman and wife Shannon, Collin Bowman, Cayley Bowman, Angelina DeMartino, Sofia DeMartino and Adalyn DeMartino. He is also survived by a sister Rosalie (Hudson) LeClair of Florida.  His smile and loving heart will be missed by all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his brother Norman Hudson and a sister Violet Hudson.

His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 21, in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main St. Marlborough. Burial with Military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.

Calling hours from 9 to 11 AM will be held prior to his service in the funeral home.
