Marlborough – Barbara L. (Downey) Renaud, 78, a lifelong resident of Marlborough, MA died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 after a period of declining health.
Barbara leaves her husband of 57 ½ years Maurice P. Renaud of Marlborough, MA; her two sons, Mark D. Renaud of Marlborough, MA, David L. Renaud and his wife Christine of Marlborough, MA; her daughter, Brenda M. Renaud and husband Larry Ferrie of Rhode Island; her 4 grandchildren, Samantha, Christina, Brandon, Theresa and 5 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her 2 brothers, Lawrence Downey of Hudson, MA, Richard Downey of Marlborough, MA; 3 sisters, Janice Downey of Marlborough, MA, Carol Credit of Georgia, Diane Galante of Gloucester, MA along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Barbara was born and raised in Marlborough, MA, daughter of the late Lawrence and Thelma (Hamelin) Downey. She attended local schools including Saint Ann’s Academy and was a graduate of Marlborough High School. She worked as a teacher at the Orchard Hill Learning Center for Children in Sudbury, MA prior to retiring. Earlier she spent time working for Design Pak and Rockport Shoe, both in Marlborough and also Yankee Candle Shop in Northborough, MA. She was a parishioner for many years at the former Saint Mary’s Parish in Marlborough, MA.
Barbara had many interests and hobbies including cooking, decorating and enjoyed reading in her spare time. She volunteered her time as a CCD instructor while at St. Mary’s Parish and always looked forward to socializing with family and friends. She will be remembered for her kind and friendly spirit; she loved everybody and they in kind loved her.
A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Family and friends may attend a period of visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Committal services will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough, MA.
