HUDSON – Local singer-guitarist Howie Newman will be performing his “Musical Baseball Show” at the First Federated Church in Hudson.

Newman was a sports writer for the Patriot Ledger, Lowell Sun, Boston Globe and other papers. He covered the Red Sox for many years and has remained an avid fan, visiting 99 major and minor league baseball parks.

As part of the performance, Newman will sing baseball songs, provide baseball trivia and talk about his days on the Bosox beat.

“Baseball is the one sport that really lends itself to music,” said Newman. “I’ll be playing my own baseball songs and some other tunes that everyone knows. We’ll talk baseball, do some trivia and just have fun.”

The concert is hosted by the Hudson Historical Society. Attendees are welcome to attend the society’s monthly meeting at 7 p.m.

The show will take place Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. There will be complimentary refreshments after the show.

The show is free. For more information, contact the Hudson Historical Society at 978-562-2380.
