Marlborough – Edward “Ted” E. S. Robbins, 82, of Marlborough, MA, passed away Friday afternoon at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 9-month battle with illness. He was the devoted husband of Carol A (Person) Robbins with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ralph Freeman and Elizabeth (Sturges) Robbins. He was raised and educated in Falmouth and was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Falmouth, class of 1959. He played on the varsity football and golf teams.

Ted began his working career working as an accountant for Wainwright in Boston and later he opened his own tax service business, Robbins Business Services, which he operated for over 35 years before retiring in 2020.

Ted was an avid golfer and had a longtime family membership at Thompson Country Club in North Reading, MA before moving to Estero, Florida where he was a member of the Pelican Sound Golf Club. He was a long-time communicant and active member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. He was the treasurer of the annual Holiday Bazaar and a member of the couples’ club as well. In his younger years, he belonged to the Jaycees in Peabody, and coached baseball and basketball to ages from elementary school to high school.

Family and friends meant everything to him, he was a fierce competitor and a giving person, however, his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family and grandchildren on the Cape for a magical time during their annual summer week together. He will be dearly missed by all.

Besides his loving wife of 60 years, Ted is survived by his beloved children, Lynne (Robbins) Wood, of Uxbridge, MA, Edward “young Ted” Robbins and his wife Belinda of Hartland, WI, and James “Jimmy” Robbins and his wife Lisa of Lynnfield, MA.  Also, his sister, Gail (Robbins) Ellis and her husband, Harold Ellis of Topsham, ME, He was also predeceased by his sister Patricia “Patty” (Robbins) Lobley. Patty’s Husband, David Lobley still resides in Topsham, ME.  Ted is also survived by his beloved 9 grandchildren, Kailey, Allison, Matthew, Derek, Kyle, Patrick, Jenna, Joey and Sean, two great grandchildren, Leo and Mae and by his many nieces, nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the following: Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 15th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, MA. His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 16 at 10:00 am at St. Adelaide’s Church, 712 Lowell St, Peabody, MA, burial will take place following Mass at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St, Peabody, MA.
